Gippsland Beef Farmer

This 300 hectare beef farm runs Euro and Black Angus. The owner approached Bioptiv seeking a holistic soil management system for the farm to improve soil quality. The goal is to produce 100 bales of silage produced on 8 hectares set aside in the top block.

• Hook weights increased on average from 210kg to 250kg.
• Fat scores increased on average from 3.4kg to 3.85kg.
• Cattle holding capacity of blocks almost doubled.
• Calculated profitability in herd from farmer was calculated at approximately $1.30/kg.
• Significant reduction in cattle scouring. Therefore, improved feed utilisation.
